SART is a coordinated response to a sexual assault by health care providers, victim services and law enforcement. In other words, if you have been sexually assaulted and you would like (note: more to come)
SART can be activated following a sexual assault by calling the police, by calling the DASI 24-Hour Hotline, or by requesting SART while in the Emergency Department of Newton Memorial Hospital or St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville.
SART Volunteers
DASI trains and supervises SART Victim Advocate Volunteers. Volunteers must complete 60 hours of specialized training, and pass criminal background and reference checks. They share on-call schedule coverage, and respond immediately to the police department or the hospital. Domestic Violence Crisis Response Teams
DV CRT volunteers respond to the police department after a domestic violence incident to assist the victim and her/his children. They provide support, information and referrals, and can keep children occupied while the victim completes the required paperwork for a temporary restraining order.
DASI trains and supervises volunteers on two DV CRTs. The Northeast Regional DV CRT provides services to victims of domestic violence in Hardyston Twp. and Vernon Township. The NJ State Police DV CRT provides services to victims of domestic violence in Sussex County municipalities served by the NJ State Police, including Montague, Wantage, Hampton Township, Fredon, Augusta, Frankford, (others?)
